Municipal management

Continuing Education has become essential for professionals across all sectors. That is why the Municipal Management Training Program was created.

The goal of this program is to enhance the required skills and abilities to be able to effectively manage in a municipal governance context. It is aimed at people working in municipalities whose position requires management skills.

This program is the result of a close collaboration between the Association of Municipal Administrators of New Brunswick (AMANB) and the Continuing Education (Formation continue) of the Université de Moncton. Its creation was made possible thanks to funding from the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. The choice of themes was based on a survey administered by the AMANB Education Committee with its members.

This program is designed for:

Managers of municipalities that are members of the Association of Municipal Administrators of New Brunswick (AMANB) and all staff members aspiring to a management position.

Program Delivery

All training sessions have been designed and will be delivered by competent trainers. The workshops are created to promote participation among program participants, and to highlight their knowledge and professional experience. The program will first be offered remotely and as soon as it is possible, by individual face-to-face workshops.

This training program will enable you to:

  • discover and use helpful management tools;
  • communicate more efficiently internally and externally;
  • promote healthier financial management;
  • encourage teamwork;
  • gain a better understanding of the functioning of local governements;
  • complete increasingly complex projects; and
  • participate to a discussion forum with people working in the same field.

By completing the program, you will obtain:

1. A certificate of achievement from the Continuing Education of the Université de Moncton

2. AMANB's  Level 1 – Basic Professional Certification in Local Government Administration.

Conditions of success

The program is composed of three blocks:
