Course Description

French as a second language classes in continuing education

Our part-time French classes will give you a solid base of communication skills while giving you many opportunities to practice your target language. The courses focus on developing language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Grammar and vocabulary are introduced at each level and a great emphasis is placed on social interaction and communication skills.

Courses are available for learners of different proficiency levels. Registered participants undergo a placement evaluation and are placed in the appropriately leveled class.

Learner Outcomes

Each level targets a set of essential language skills identified according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Prerequisites

Once registered, all new students will be required to undergo a placement test that measures their level of language competency in four areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. An overall score will determine the course level: beginner, elementary, intermediate or advanced.
